Just a 15 minute drive north of Port Douglas is beautiful Cooya Beach (Kuyu Kuyu),  a special place and traditional fishing grounds of the Kuku Yalanji people and home to Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours.

Traditional Education & Medicines Tour

A Shared Group Experience - Standard Tour

• 2-hour experience
• These are group bookings that may accommodate up to 25 guests.
• A minimum of 5 adult guests is required for the tour to operate efficiently.

Guests will have the opportunity to learn how to handle and throw a
traditional spear, guided by experienced First Nations guides. This tour
offers a rich cultural experience, exploring traditional foods, bush
medicines, the coastal ecosystem, and the use of traditional artefacts
and hunting tools. Please note that while the experience is interactive,
our standard tours do not include actual participation in traditional
hunting activities.

Time: As our tours are tidal based, tours run at either: 9:30AM or 1:30PM
Tour time will be confirmed upon booking.
Bookings are essential.

Cost:  Prices include GST and are in Australian Dollars

• $110 per adult
• $82.50 per child (4-12)

*Children must be accompanied by supervisors 18 years+ .

Note: If fewer than 4 adult guests are booked, there are a couple of options:
Join the waitlist - You'll be notified if additional guests book
Pay for 4 adult guests - You're welcome to cover the minimum cost

This exclusive, personalized experience includes all the highlights of our
standard tour, with the added opportunity to take part in a traditional
hunting activity. If successful, you'll even get to sample the catch! Guided
by your own dedicated cultural guide, this tour offers a deeply immersive
and tailored journey - with the option to include a traditional smoking
ceremony for an even richer cultural connection.

Time: As our tours are tidal based, tour times will vary and will be
confirmed upon booking.

Cost: Prices include GST and are in Australian Dollars

• 1-4 people is a total of $880 AUD
• Each additional cost per person after 4 pax: $220 AUD

What to Bring: wear a hat, sunscreen and cover up.  Bring drinking water and don’t forget the insect repellent.  Wear beach shoes and comfortable clothing for walking through water, mudflats and mangroves.
