  • Fitzroy Island Resort

Fitzroy Island Resort is an accessible, affordable 4 star tropical paradise of rainforest and beaches within the calm sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. It is the only island accessible from Cairns that has a range of accommodation from camp sites to 2 bedroom apartments.

The beaches are more coral based in the areas close to the resort so bring a pair of thongs or reef shoes as it can get a little uncomfortable under your tender feet. There is a small delicatessan to purchase basic items but if you are staying for a while you will need to bring your bulk groceries from the mainland. Woolworths is only a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal building.

Rejuvenate as you explore Australia's youngest landscape.  Kinrara station surrounds Kinrara National Park, a private park with no public access. The vine thicket rainforest (1 of only 2 remaining) and solidified lava flow around the camp site are engulfed in what seems endless artesian water. This source flows out of the ground literally metres from the Kinrara station homestead.
