Atherton Tablelands / Waterfalls
The Atherton Tableland is a fertile plateau which is part of the Great Dividing Range in Queensland, Australia. It is located inland from Cairns, well into the tropics, but its elevated position provides a climate suitable for dairy farming. The fertility of the soils in the region can be attributed to the volcanic origins of the land.
Atherton Tablelands is a high priority on many tourists lists. With many beautiful places to visit like the waterfalls circuit which includes the famous Millaa Millaa Falls. There are volcanic crater lakes such as Lake Barrine and Lake Eacham as well as pockets of tropical rainforest and Giant Fig trees. South of the Atherton Tablelands just past Innisfail, is Paronella Park. This is an enchanting place filled with lush tropical gardens, Spanish Castle Ruins and has a great historic love story to be told.
